Emotive Skins
This project is collaboration with Anne Liu and inspired by the Iowa Gambling Test. In this test participants are presented with a four decks of cards where they can win money or lose money depending on which deck of card they revel. They are presented four decks of cards, some of the cards are more advantageous and disadvantageous. Every so often, however, choosing a card causes them to lose some money. After 50 cards most participants to figure out the distribution and select from more advantageous decks. However, within 10 cards your hands start to sweat, this occurs when you reach out to the back deck. Meaning your limbic system recognize emotional/decision making actions before your cognitive brain.
When different regions of your emotional brain are excited or processing information, different affective outputs can occur physiologically, on your skin. We are interested in “programming” these affective outputs to see if we can reverse and have a better control of the cognitive and emotional loop.
